  • What are my career prospects as a massage therapist?
As soon as you graduate, you are eligible to be licensed in the state of Maine and most other states in the country. Our graduates have 100% placement either with regional spas, clinical settings or private practice. During the summer after graduation, many of our graduates have reported making over four thousand dollars a month working in busy spas and resorts.
  • How long is the program?
Our program lasts for 6 months, from mid-October the end of the following April. Each month is broken into a different module, which builds upon your knowledge from the previous month's classes. Classes typically run Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. You will also have one day per week of clinic work on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 1:30PM to 6:30PM. Outreach events begin after Module 2 and will be held after class on certain Fridays throughout the remainder of the program.
  • When do classes start?
In 2025, classes will begin Monday, October 20th and run until the end of April in 2026 (or the beginning of May, depending on when you finish your clinic hours). We have breaks for Thanksgiving and around the holidays.
  • How much does it cost?
This investment in your future can easily make up for itself in one Summer season. We keep our program costs as low as possible to remain affordable for our community. Tuition is $11,000, and there is a $900 supply fee that covers textbooks, equipment, and other general costs. This comes out to a total of $12,000. We offer private payment plans to help you spread the cost over a longer period of time, but if you pay in full before the start of class in October, you will receive $500 off the total cost of your tuition!
  • What is the usual class size?
Our average class size is around 5 - 7 students. This small class size allows for plenty of one-on-one instruction and personalized teaching. We take the future success of our students seriously, and our number one goal is to help you graduate with the strongest foundation of knowledge possible.
  • Do you offer scholarships?
We do not offer FAFSA scholarships or funding. However, we offer payment plans starting at under $250 a week to help manage tuition costs. Please reach out for more details about payment plans.
  • Do you offer housing?
We do not offer housing. However, there are many affordable housing opportunities that open up on the island and surrounding areas in the winter months! We recommend checking Facebook Marketplace and Bar Harbor Barter and Swap on Facebook for affordable rentals in the fall and winter.
  • Do you accept international students?
We do! Our only requirement is that you are here in person for classes, as our hands-on bodywork classes cannot be done online.
  • What time of year does the student clinic run?
The students begin their first clinics at the end of November, and continue every week until the end of April (with some breaks near the end of December and beginning of January). This is a great opportunity for community members to receive discounted rates on massages through the winter, and it gives our students plenty of real-world, hands-on experience.
  • What days and times are clinic massages available?
Depending on our number of students, clinics will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, or all three. The time slots available to book with the students are 1:30, 2:45, 4:00, and 5:15.
  • What types of services can I book through the student clinic?
This depends very much on how far along the students are in the program. For the first month, the students will only know basic Swedish massage. They may not have figured out how to apply deep pressure yet, and they will not know any deep tissue techniques. Some students may still have a level of unease around touching strangers. While receiving honest feedback is crucial for their development, we ask that you are also understanding of their skill level at this early stage. By the end of of December, they will have learned some deep tissue, and by the end of January, they will have learned mud wraps, sugar scrubs, and hot stone massage. You can expect to be able to book these treatments starting roughly at the beginning of February.
  • How do I book?
You can book a student clinic appointment by calling us at (207) 288-8222, or by clicking the Book Now button below.
  • Is there parking?
We have a few parking spaces next to our building, but if those are full, there is usually plenty of street parking right outside the building in the winter. Meters are not running through the winter months, so the street parking is free.
